Casino History & Heritage
Casino Barcelona is the direct successor of the Gran Casino de Barcelona opened in Sant Pere de Ribes in 1978, in the first wave of venues licensed after gambling was legalised in Spain in 1977. It moved to its present seafront site at Port Olímpic in 1999, in the district rebuilt for the 1992 Olympic Games, and is operated by Cirsa. Hotel Arts, the 44-storey steel-framed tower beside it, was likewise built for the 1992 Games and opened in 1994.
